Today's wines...

I got together with a few friends for dinner at our place and we had some nice wines...

2005 Didier Dagueneau, Blanc Fume de Pouilly, "Buisson Renard"...From the soil which contains clay and silex (flint). The remarkable minerality is supported by the barrel fermentation and aging. Extremely rich in a very sophisticated way. High acidity. Lemon and stone fruits. Great balance.

2005 Catherine & Pierre Breton, Bourgueil, "Les Perrieres"...Bio-dynamic producer. It was perfect to taste it slightly chilled in the hot summer evening. Chocolate, cherry, and grassy character. Medium body.

2005 Thierry Violot-Guillemard, Pommard 1er Cru, "Pezerolles"...I was really excited about opening this wine. Violot-Guillemard is the real artisan Pommard producer and makes very elegant-style Pommard. They own 5 ha vineyards and has been bio-dynamic since 2000. Pure dark berry fruit, earth, round and smooth palate. Complex. Really beautiful.

2001 Paul Coulon, Domaine de Beaurenard, Chateauneuf-du-Pape...This producer has been receiving more recognition in the recent years since Parker gave 5 stars (max stars). But, they have been making wine for 7 generations. Very dark color. Tobacco, mineral, dark berry, fig, etc. on the nose. Rich on the palate. Long finish. Old vines (some are over 90-year-old).
