Plain Donabe Rice

During our vacation in Kauai, as always, we ate a lot of rice. Since many people eat rice every day (or even 3 meals a day) in Hawaii, just like in Japan, the rice served at restaurants there are pretty high standard. So we were pretty happy with the rice situation in our trip.

But, when we came back to Los Angeles and made the donabe rice again, we were in shock! After eating the "regular" non-donabe rice for the past week, you could really appreciate how delicious the plain rice cooked with the donabe tastes! The donabe rice has the aroma, and the texture is so wonderful (you can taste each grain), and the flavor gets better as you chew it. We just kept eating it plain until we finished the whole pot.

No rice can taste better than the rice cooked with my double-lid donabe rice cooker, "Kamado-san".
