Trip to Europe (Bourgogne-France-Fall 2011)...Dinner at Ma Cuisine in Beaune

(Day 2)
Our 2nd night dinner was at Ma Cuisine (Passage Saint-Helene, 21200 Beaune). I had a wonderful meal in my last visit there last year. It's a husband & wife team. Wife is the chef, and husband is a sommelier. Their wine selection is really amazing with pages and pages of Bourgogne as well as wines from other regions of different vintages.

Four of us had a great evening. The restaurant was a full house and so lively.

My dishes...Salade de St-Jacque, Poelee (pan-fried scallop salad), and Pigeon entier Roti au Jus (roasted pigeon).

Some of friends' dishes...shaved Bourgignon truffle over soft scrambled egg, beef dish and veal dish. They were both very nice, too.

We had some really nice wines...the super star of the night was 1972 Corton! The wine was just perfectly aged and had the classic gentle sweetness of old Burgundy with the long finish. Exquisite it was.
2004 Domaine Leflaive, Puligny-Montrachet
1978 Remoissenet Pere & Fils, Volnay
1972 Domaine Louis-Violland, Corton

Fromages and Dessert. Wonderful finish.

Then, we nightowled to another bar/ cafe for more wine. This little cafe is called, Le Parisien, and it's just a very normal cafe with young kids drinking coffee or beer at night...except that they have an impressive wine list. Ha! So, we ordered 2002 Joseph Drouhin, Beaune, "Clos Mouches" and had a nice night cap at the outside table (it was becoming quite chilly). Another wonderful finish.
