For lunch, awe went down to a town of Nuits-Saint-Georges for a quick bite.

At a small cafe, called Cafe du Centre, I had vegetable soup and "Origami de Rouget", which was baked red mullet with vegetables in a paper case, served with rice. Very French-style...I thought:-)

Then, we drove up to Gevrey-Chambertin for an appointment with Alain Burguet. He is one of my favorite producers from Gevrey-Chambertin. Upon arrival, Alain himself welcomed us.

Then, his sone, Jean-Luc took over to give us tasting of 2010 barrel samples.

Here are what we tasted.

(2010 vintage)
Bourgogne (rouge)...no racking, no filtering, 35-year-old vine
Gevrey-Chambertin Village
Gevrey-Chambertin "Mes Favorites"...some are over 100-year-old vines
Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru, "Les Rouges du Dessus"...from right above Echezeaux
Chambertin Clos de Beze...we tasted sample from 100% new oak barrel, before assemlage. It will be assembled with batches from older barrel, and the final new oak percentage will be about 45%.
Meursault, "Sous Levelle" (blanc)

We also tasted some prior vintages...
2008 Gevrey-Chambertin, "Mes Favorites"
2007 Gevrey-Chambertin, "Place des Lois"...cuvee from two different parcels (north and south)

2010 production of Burguet is almost 50% of previous year (big year 2009), yet Jean-Luc said they are happy with 2010's very fine quality. Hopefully, 2010 price won't be too high...

Burguet wine is 100% organic for 2011 vintage, and it will even move on to biodynamic for 2012 vintage.
