Trip to Europe (Bourgogne-France-Fall 2011)...Lunch at Olivier Leflaive

(Day 2)
After the tasting with Benjamin Leroux, we were invited to have another tasting session with Nicolas Rossignol of Domaine Rossignol.

He shares the same wine making facility with Benjamin, and makes a wide range of wines from Cote de Beaune. Here's what we tasted.

(2010 vintage)
Bourgogne Rouge
Volnay Village
Volnay 1er Cru "Santenos"
Pommard 1er Cru "Fremieres" (right next to Volnay "Fremiert")

(2009 vintage)
Volnay Village
Volnay 1er Cru "Chevret"
Volnay 1er Cru (Santenos"
Pernand-Vergelees 1er Cru "Fichots"

Nicolas' wines are so distinctively different from Benjamin's and they tasted almost opposite in style.

For lunch, we drove to La Table d'Olivier Leflaive (Place du Monument - BP40, 21190 Puligny-Montrachet) for a light tasting course. I came here last year and had a nice lunch. It was good to see the same sommelier working here (he remembered me!), and also Olivier again!

After lunch, we visited Grand Cru vineyards in Puligny-Montrachet. The rain was up and I could feel the air of vineyards with my entire body. Great.
